While most 18-year-olds are just beginning their careers, Prasanta Ray has already spent seven years building the infrastructure that could help independent game developers across India find their audience — and he's only getting started.
At 18 years old, Prasanta
Ray has already
accumulated a technical portfolio that would impress developers twice his age.
The young technologist from Kokrajhar, Assam,
who serves as the Chief Technology Officer of Fathm Private Limited, has spent
over seven years building expertise in server
administration, cloud infrastructure, and full-stack development — skills that
now form the backbone of a gaming infrastructure platform designed to help
independent developers across India.
Ray's journey into
technology began early. Growing up in Kokrajhar, he was drawn to the systems
that power the internet — servers, networks, and the complex infrastructure
that makes online experiences possible. His early projects, including PG
Servers, PG SMP, and PG Networks — multiplayer gaming infrastructure systems —
gave him hands-on experience in managing the kind of scalable platforms
that most engineers
don't encounter until well into their professional careers.
By the time he was
pursuing a Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering at the Central Institute of Technology in Kokrajhar — a
program he began in 2025 — Ray had already developed a reputation as a technically proficient builder with an uncommon
depth of knowledge. His expertise spans Linux system administration, DevOps
practices, cloud infrastructure, and artificial intelligence — a rare
combination for a developer his age.
In 2025, Ray founded
CodelithLabs, an open-source software organization dedicated to building and
sharing tools for developers. The venture reflected a core value that has
guided his work: the belief that technology should be accessible and that the
best solutions emerge when developers collaborate openly. CodelithLabs became a
space for Ray to experiment, learn, and contribute to the broader developer
community — long before he would co-found a company of his own.
It was through his
connection with childhood friend Jigmi Brahma that Ray's technical expertise
found its most ambitious application yet. The two friends, who had grown up
together in Kokrajhar, recognized a shared vision: independent game developers
in India were struggling to find visibility and validation for their work, and
there was a clear opportunity to build something that could help. Ray's role at
Fathm would be to build the technical infrastructure that could make that
vision a reality.
"Prasanta's technical
depth is what makes this possible," said Brahma, Fathm's CEO. "I had
the vision, but he had the ability to actually build it. That combination is
what makes Fathm Ray's approach to
technology is characterized by a commitment to precision and scalability. He
understands that a platform serving independent developers across India needs
to be robust, secure, and capable of handling growth — and he has been building
with that awareness from the beginning. His experience with Linux and cloud
infrastructure positions him to design systems that can support developers at
any stage of their journey, from early concept validation to full-scale publishing.
As Fathm's CTO, Ray is responsible for the
architecture and implementation of the platform. His work involves everything
from server configuration to database design to the development of features
that allow developers to share their games, collect player feedback, and refine
their concepts. It is a complex undertaking, but it is one that Ray approaches
with the same curiosity and technical discipline he has brought to every
project since he first started building.
Ray's age is often a point
of surprise for those who encounter his work, but he views it as incidental.
"Experience matters more than age," he said. "I've been doing
this for seven years — I've made mistakes, I've learned, and I've built things
that work. That's what matters."
For Ray, the significance of Fathm extends
beyond the technology itself. It is an opportunity to build something that can genuinely help developers —
particularly those who, like him, come from regions that are often overlooked
in India's tech narrative. The platform operates from Kokrajhar, a town of approximately 40,000 people, and Ray sees this as both a statement and a starting point.
"There's so much talent in places that don't get attention," he said. "Fathm is proof that you can build from anywhere. You don't need to be in Bangalore or Mumbai to create something that matters."
As Fathm continues to
grow, Ray remains focused on the technical challenges ahead — scaling the
platform, integrating new features, and ensuring that every developer who uses
it has a seamless experience. His journey from early server projects in Kokrajhar
to leading technical development at a gaming infrastructure company is still
unfolding, and for Ray, that's exactly how it
should be.

"I'm building because I love it," Ray said. "And because I believe developers everywhere deserve better tools. That's what we're trying to build."
Fathm Private Limited is a gaming infrastructure
company based in Kokrajhar, Assam, founded in 2026 by Jigmi Brahma and Prasanta
Ray. The platform helps independent game developers
validate their game concepts through structured player feedback, game jams, and publishing support.
